CAREER PROBE WORKSHOP 2

See what remains valuable when the role, title, or context changes.

You are more than the roles you have held. But it can be difficult to explain what you carry beyond them.

Most of us learn to describe our experience through job titles, responsibilities, and industry language. Those labels may work while we remain in a familiar setting, but they can make our experience appear narrower than it really is when we begin considering a different role, organization, or field.

Beneath your titles are capabilities: combinations of knowledge, judgment, relationships, habits, and action that allow you to notice what matters, make sense of complexity, work with others, and make useful things happen.

This live, two-hour virtual workshop helps you uncover those capabilities, describe the value they create, and begin seeing where they could travel next.

A capability is more than something you know how to do. It is something you can bring together reliably to create value in different situations.

What you will do

Using LEGO® Serious Play® model-building, guided reflection, and the Career Probe Field Guide, you will:

  • Look beneath job titles and task lists to identify what you reliably make possible
  • Explore capabilities related to seeing, interpreting, relating, enabling, and stewarding
  • Build a model of one capability you carry across roles and situations
  • Connect that capability to evidence from your experience
  • Describe how the capability creates value without relying on the language of a particular job
  • Begin considering where that capability could be useful next

There is no correct way to build, and no artistic or LEGO-building skill is required. The meaning comes from the story you give your model, not from what it looks like.

What you will take with you

By the end of the workshop, you will have:

  • A broader picture of what you carry beyond your job title
  • A clearer understanding of at least one capability you can bring into a new context
  • Evidence and language for explaining how that capability creates value
  • A stronger starting point for exploring roles and possibilities that may not look like an obvious match on paper

This workshop may be right for you if

  • Your professional identity has become closely tied to a particular title, role, or field
  • You know you have substantial experience but struggle to explain how it applies elsewhere
  • You are considering a pivot and worry that changing direction means starting over
  • Your experience does not fit neatly into the language used in job postings
  • You want to recognize patterns in how you create value, not simply produce another list of skills
  • You want to explore possibilities that build on what you already carry

You do not need to have a new role or career direction in mind. This workshop begins with what you already know, do, notice, and make possible.

What to expect

  • A live, two-hour online workshop on Zoom
  • Guided LEGO® Serious Play® model-building
  • Individual reflection and facilitated small-group conversation
  • Selected materials from the Career Probe Field Guide
  • Limited enrollment to support active participation

How much will you need to share?

Career experiences can be personal. You will be invited to explain the meaning of your models and reflect on examples from your experience, but you decide how much personal detail you want to share.

Materials

You will need your own LEGO pieces or a comparable collection of building pieces. Purchasing the recommended LEGO® Serious Play® Starter Kit is the simplest option, but you may use your own varied collection of bricks, figures, connectors, and movable or symbolic pieces.

The kit is purchased separately and is not included in your workshop ticket. Complete materials, setup, and Zoom instructions will be sent after registration.

PART OF A FOUR-WORKSHOP SERIES

Take this workshop on its own

This is the second workshop in a four-part series for navigating nonlinear career change. It delivers a complete capability-discovery experience on its own. You do not need to complete the first workshop or commit to the full series to participate.

The complete series helps you understand what is making movement difficult, recognize the capabilities you can carry forward, explore adjacent possibilities, and design a small experiment to test what comes next.

You may register for this workshop individually or choose the complete four-part series.

What you carry is larger than any one role.
